Alongside characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe and other Sega franchises, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will let you race as characters from other crossover IPs.

Now, Sega has announced at Gamescom that Pac-Man will be hitting the track in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as a playable season pass character.

As part of Sega’s collaboration with Namco, Green Hill Zone, the iconic opening stage in the mainline Sonic the Hedgehog games, will also be added to the Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac 3D platformer as a downloadable location.

Pac-Man joins several other crossover characters announced for the season pass, including SpongeBob Squarepants plus Alex, Steve and Creeper from Minecraft, with more yet to be revealed. The season pass is included with the Digital Deluxe Edition or can be purchased separately.

This won’t be the first time Pac-Man has been a playable character in a racing game, having also appeared in Namco’s Ridge Racer games, including Ridge Racer Type 4, Ridge Racer V and Ridge Racer 7 among other entries.

At launch, Sega’s new kart racer will feature 23 playable characters, making it the largest character roster in a Sonic Racing game yet. Mainstays like Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are present, while additional Sega characters such as Hatsune Miku, Yakuza’s Ichiban Kasuga and Joker from Persona 5 will expand the roster in free updates.

It’s a stark contrast to Sonic Racing: CrossWorld’s main rival, Mario Kart World, which is currently limited to characters from the Super Mario universe.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be released on 25th September 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with a Switch 2 version to follow later this year on an unannounced date. Digital Deluxe players can get up to three days of early access from 20th September.
