Assetto Corsa EVO to add first-generation E30 BMW M3

The E30 3-series kick-started the ‘M3’ moniker, and it will once again feature in an Assetto Corsa sim title.

A third car has been confirmed for Assetto Corsa EVO’s much vaunted 0.3 update – the BMW M3 (E30).

This first generation of the titular sports saloon was created to homologate the 3-Series for motorsport, and all versions featured a high-revving four-cylinder engine.

As for the specific model E30 M3 included, this has not yet been confirmed. However, based on the in-game images released on Assetto Corsa’s social media channels, it looks to be the Sport Evolution.

This included an upgraded 2.5-litre engine (over 2.3) and is deemed to be the best of the breed. Only 600 were produced.

If you cast your mind back to 2014’s original Assetto Corsa game, it also featured an E30 M3 and some tune, drift and race versions.

This model will join the contemporary BMW M4 GT3 Evo and Dallara Stradale in the next update.

It is set to include nine new cars in total, alongside Spa-Francorchamps and the Red Bull Ring. Perhaps even more importantly, claimed improvements to car sounds, the tyre model, AI, plus the first iteration of online multiplayer will be included.

There’s no release date yet for 0.3, but we anticipate sometime within July and expect the remaining cars to be unveiled over the coming days and weeks.
