Following the announcement of GT3 cars appearing in Assetto Corsa EVO for the first time earlier this month, developer Kunos Simulazioni has published the first footage of the upcoming BMW.

The M4 GT3, in Evo (not, not EVO) specification with the updated lights, is being driven around a virtual Spa-Francorchamps – the track also debuting in the early access simulation.

As previously mentioned, it will be showcased at the upcoming real-world 24 hours of Spa event.

SRO Esports return?

This is particularly intriguing as that event’s organiser, SRO, has a long-standing relationship with the Assetto Corsa franchise, but so far only for the Assetto Corsa Competizione title.

Late last year, studio Co-Founder Marco Massarutto denounced claims that AC EVO would be an official SRO game, and thus a GT World Challenge-themed title.

However, in the gameplay trailer for the BMW, the SRO Motorsport Groups Esports logo is proudly displayed.

As it stands, there is no official SRO Esports championship in 2025 following several high-profile seasons using Competizione. While EVO remains in early access and hasn’t started the roll-out of multiplayer yet, clearly, such competitions cannot be held this year, but it does open the debate for a potential return next year.

SRO X Fanatec

Fanatec is also a partner for this particular showcase, where visitors to the Spa race can test the new car in-game and set leaderboard times in what’s billed as the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa Esport Challenge 2025.

It marks the return to an SRO-affiliated event following the termination of a previous agreement during the fallout of the German company’s ownership battle.

“This marks the first step toward enabling online competition and will allow us to refine and expand the features our community has been eagerly waiting for,” said Massarutto.

Visitors will find Assetto Corsa EVO at the Fan Village between 26th and 29th June, inside the ‘E-Motion On Tour Truck’, with Massarutto and franchise Brand and Creative Director, Davide Brivio, on site.

The car and track, alongside the Red Bull Ring and further vehicles, will arrive at home in July as part of a 0.3 game update.
