Moza R12 sim racing wheel base upgraded, price cut

Following its release last year, Moza Racing’s mid-range sim racing wheel base receives force feedback tweaks.

Moza R12 Direct Drive Wheelbase review: a significant step forward

The rate of progress at Moza Racing is electrifying, as it delivers yet another update to an existing product line.

The R12 is a sim racing wheel base that outputs up to 12Nm of torque (the clue is in the name) and for 2024, it has been upgraded with what Moza touts as ‘ NexGen 3.0 Force Feedback’.

According to the manufacturer, the result of this new algorithm is the elimination of “swaying during straight-line driving” and a refined “natural inertia of the vehicle, creating a smoother and more realistic racing experience.”

There’s also a revision to Moza’s Hand-off Protection Mode. Should you be about to crash, removing your hands will tell it to remain in a neutral position, avoiding sudden and powerful movements of the wheel.

The rest of the R12 remains the same, which means a 16-pole carbon fibre-wrapped direct drive motor, an aluminium casing and direct compatibility with Moza’s latest wheels – such as the Vision GS.

“Moza has staked its claim as a real contender mid-range wheelbase market, where price and performance are finely balanced,” we said in our 2023 review of the original unit.

“The R12 not only fills the gap and completes their range of direct drive wheelbases from 5Nm up to 21Nm, but it also signifies a step forward for Moza as well, with its attention to detail and final finish Moza’s best so far.”

$90 has been lopped off the price to coincide with these updates. The device now retails for $499 / €549 / £499 / AUD 899.
