Frontier Developments’ F1 Manager 2024 is only a couple of weeks away from release and we’ve already been treated to previews of the game’s expansive new mentality system, expanded driver roster, create a team mode and junior driver programmes.
This time around, however, the Cambridge-based studio has showcased more of F1 Manager 2024’s in-session improvements, ensuring that budding Team Principals have the most realistic race day experience.
Mechanical failures
Cars can now develop major or minor mechanical failures during a race, affecting the engine, gearbox and ERS systems. Minor faults can be fixed during a race – recycling the ERS system can prevent a full-scale failure, for example – while ignoring an issue can lead to retirement.
To help prevent wear and tear of car components players must manage wear levels, powertrain temperatures and kerb usage during sessions, as well as keep an eye on their opponents who are also subject to the same issues.
Battling
Once again, the way cars move on track has been improved for ‘24, with battling handled more realistically. Cars should now recover from incidents more quickly, with AI drivers overtaking more aggressively to match their real-world counterparts.
