The F1 Manager 2024 team is ramping up its efforts ahead of the game’s release on 23 July, with Frontier Developments highlighting its much-anticipated ‘Create a Team’ mode in a new ‘Feature Focus’ presentation.

‘Create a Team’ allows players to do just that, adding an 11th team to the Formula 1 grid to battle against the established 10 (we’re assuming most players will take it upon themselves to shoehorn Andretti in manually).

Players can opt to customise their team’s origins by setting a budget and deciding on the starting quality of its infrastructure and car pace. Alternatively, budding F1 Team Principals can let the game randomise these options for a quicker and more challenging beginning.

Excitingly, creating a custom team also means players can create their team logo and liveries, with those with an artistic streak able to produce a new paint scheme for every Grand Prix if they wish. Race suits and helmets can also be edited to complement your car’s design

It’s also possible to choose the driver pairing of your dreams: a Logan Sargeant and Lance Stroll super-team anyone? Hello? There’s the option to select drivers from the lower rungs of the motorsport ladder too, with players able to choose powertrains from Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault and the snappily-titled Honda Red Bull Powertrains.

Sponsors are also new for 2024 and were teased during the presentation, showing how sponsorship logos can be placed on your car to complement its livery design. What’s clear is that sponsors will be crucial to funding your F1 team each season, with different benefactors offering various perks.

Interestingly, if players get a bit fed up they are free to leave their custom team and compete against them. It’s always a good idea to flee a sinking ship, just ask Oscar Piastri…
