Watch F1 champ Damon Hill turn PUBG: Battlegrounds player WackyJacky101 into a racing driver

We often talk about the relationship between sim racing and motorsport, and how some drivers manage to transition across – such as Jann Mardenborough in the current Gran Turismo movie.

But what about going from a battle-royal shooting title to Silverstone?

Well, that’s exactly the challenge faced by WackyJacky101 recently as he took to Silverstone’s Stowe Circuit alongside former Formula 1 world champion Damon Hill. Could the former driver, now Sky F1 pundit, turn the PUBG: Battlegrounds player into a quick driver?

To find out, a new feature has been released on YouTube, and of course, the vehicle in use is the Aston Martin DBX707 – the crossover can be driven, alongside the V12 Vantage, within PUBG following their addition in August.

So, while the handling of the Aston Martin’s isn’t going to work with your sim set-up, it’s worth remembering that you can still at least drive vehicles within PUBG: Battlegrounds, and so you may as well do so with a licence to kill a licenced and accurately recreated real-world luxury vehicle. Three skins of the British speed machines are currently available in the third-person shooter, representing one of the most powerful SUVs on the market and a lithe sports car:

• Aston Martin DBX707 – can be applied to Zima, Pickup and UAZ
• Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster/Vantage Roadster (Luxe) – can be applied to Coupe RB

The Aston Martin’s both included modelled interiors, unique engine sounds and the convertible has a functional retracting roof. Word of warning though, the soft top provides less protection.

An Aston Martin Container is also available to those who own the car skins and provided one player has access, their team-mates can also join the ride. These are only available for two months, however.

Further Aston Martin skins are available through an optional Crafter Pass, where proceeding through levels unlocks items such as tokens, Aston Martin player clothing, different colours for the cars, wheels and brake calipers, workshop chests, keys and nameplates.
