Chinese sim racing peripheral manufacturer Simagic has today (25th November 2022) released details of its new GT Sport wheelrim.
Pitched as an all-in-one sim racing solution, the GT Sport is a comfortable 300mm wide, featuring adjustable hall effect gearshift paddles, two seven-way switches, two rotary encoders, seven RGB-adorned buttons and an LED rev strip.
For sim racers with a tactile preference, the wheel will be manufactured in both Alcantara and leather coverings (Alcantara costs an extra $/€20). In terms of couplings, the GT Sport uses Simagic’s proprietary QR50 quick-release system.
The wheelrim is made of a magnesium-aluminium alloy, weighing 1.45kg, with 128 button stickers included for optimal customisation. Thanks to its circular shape, the GT Sport should work well as a rally, drift, touring car and sportscar rim.
The manufacturer’s claim of it being ideal for open-wheel racing seems a stretch, however, because of its width and shape.
The Simagic is available to pre-order from the company’s regional distributors now, priced at $/€339 (leather) and $/€359 (Alcantara). Prices exclude shipping costs and tax.
Where do you think the GT Sport ranks against its sim racing hardware rivals? Is there a more versatile wheelrim on the market? Give us your answers in the comments below.
