This week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races are very Nissan-oriented, as players are faced with a single-make GT-R road car race round Watkins Glen’s Short Course layout.
Race B’s clear car of choice is another Nissan, this time the GT-R Gr.4. Fortunately, Race C manages to restore some balance, but the recommended car is still quite familiar…
In terms of tracks, we visit the aforementioned Watkins Glen in New York State in Race A, with trips to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Autopolis in Japan for races B and C respectively.
As a reminder, we are now using GT7‘s new Balance of Performance (BoP) system, introduced in the v1.19 July update. BoP is now split into three categories depending on the type of track used: High-speed (H), Mid-speed (M) and Low-speed (L).
As of the 30th of May, Race A’s performance will not affect players’ Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR), so feel free to race as hard as you like…
RACE A
Watkins Glen is one of the most popular race tracks in North America with both fans and drivers. Its high-speed cambered corners provide a lot of challenge and close racing. And with Race A featuring a grid of identical Nissan GT-Rs, the action cannot be closer.
As opposed to “The Glen’s” well-known ‘Boot’ layout, this race is held on the Short Course variant. More commonly used by the NASCAR series, this track cuts out four corners from the track’s longer layout, but still offers numerous chances for side-by-side action.
Nissan’s GT-R model type first garnered the nickname Godzilla thanks to its dominance in Australian motorsport – the R32 Skyline being the marque’s first exported GT-R down under. The car ended up being excluded from Australia’s top touring car championship due to its dominance but the car was still massively successful in Japanese motorsport.
The moniker has stuck with subsequent GT-Rs and it’s easy to see why. Huge power – 592 bhp – coupled with frightening corner speeds and a hefty 1725kg of mass ensures the 2017 GT-R NISMO maintains its Godzillian reputation.

Race B
Continuing the Nissan theme, the overwhelming favourite for this Gr.4 blast around Spa-Francorchamps is the fictional Nissan GT-R Gr.4 car.
The BoP of Gr.4 races has consistently been debatable since the inception of GT7’s Daily Races and yet again a four-wheel-drive car has a huge advantage over the rest of the available choices.
In theory, the open sweeps and long straights of Belgium’s most famous track should negate the advantage of total traction but the Nissan is streets ahead of the competition. It’s a disappointment for sure, but at the very least fans can enjoy this criminally under-used track in GT7’s online mode.
Race B uses the High-speed (H) BoP format.

Race C
We have seen a lot of the Porsche 911 RSR (991) Gr.3 car in GT7’s Daily Races and in Race C it is once again the car of choice.
Based on the hugely successful GTE race car, the Porsche features excellent handling and awesome traction. However, with 6x fuel consumption a degree of care needs to be taken during this 25-minute test.
Some fuel map adjustments and/or lift and coast techniques can be used to eke out fuel mileage but it’s tricky to focus on this while negotiating Autopolis’ notoriously twisty 2.9-mile layout.
Race C uses the Mid-speed (M) BoP format.

Lap Time Challenge
The current Lap Time Challenge takes place at Autodrome Lago Maggiore – Full Course, using the Nissan Z Performance ’23.
A new Lap Time Challenge will begin on the 29th of September.
