Ahead of the release of American Truck Simulator’s epic-looking Montana DLC on the 4th of August, SCS Software has updated the game to v1.45 and added new content to the popular truck sim.
Wyoming DLC content update
Originally released in September last year, American Truck Simulator’s (ATS) Wyoming DLC introduced a rather scenic part of the USA to the sim, including parts of Yellowstone National Park and 11 cities.
With v1.45 SCS Software has now also added the city of Cody and the historic US-14 highway. Cody is both known as the rodeo capital of the world and the gateway to Yellowstone, so expect a heavier focus on agricultural and timber industries.
Montana also shares a portion of Yellowstone, so the updates to Wyoming are no coincidence. V1.45 should enhance the links between the two states in-game, making ATS a more immersive experience. If you already own ATS’ Wyoming DLC the new updates arrive as a free upgrade.
Ownable tank/cistern trailers
Fuel and silo trailers can now be owned in-game. From transporting grain to delivering the most expensive item known to humankind – petrol – the new trailer types will help grow your trucking business.
The trailers feature single, double, b-double, Rocky Mountain Double, turnpike double and triple connection types, with single drainpipe and four-way drainpipe body types. More versions of these trailers will be available in future.
Rebranded fuel and rest stop stations
ATS’ fuel and rest stops have undergone a bit of a change in v1.45 and received a new lick of paint. Signage has been updated on the game’s six brands of stations, making them look more realistic and immersive.
Missing mods support in Convoy mode
A handy new feature the community has been asking about for some time is the ability to join other players’ Convoy sessions despite not having all the required server-installed mods.
Players in this position will instead now see a yellow box placeholder (online rFactor 2 players will be familiar with this) asset instead of the mod. The option has to be selected on the client and player side to function correctly.
Rain sensor and ability to hide inaccessible road markers
Setting your truck’s wipers to position one now enables automatic rain-sensing wipers. As you would expect, the wipers then increase their speed based on the amount of rain falling onto the windscreen, allowing players to focus on keeping their truck on the road rather than fumbling for their virtual wiper stalk.
Another quality-of-life feature introduced in v1.45 is the ability to hide inaccessible roads. This provides a cleaner look to the game but does mean it might be possible to drive into invisible barriers.
