It’s been seven months since Forza Horizon 5 was released and we’ve been eagerly anticipating its first expansion ever since – but a recent Steam Store landing page may have given the game away early as to its theme.
Following on from Forza Horizon 3’s 2017 Hot Wheels Expansion that saw giant orange plastic tracks erected, the Hot Wheels Legends car pack for Forza Horizon 4 and the Bone Shaker already in Horizon 5 (main picture), it would seem the diecast model cars will once again be part of the Horizon universe.
In the early hours of Thursday, 9th June 2022, the Steam Store page looks to have added a thumbnail included an image for a Hot Wheels diecast model that read ‘Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels’ under the black banner ‘Includes Expansion 1’.
A variation on what looks to be Hot Wheels’ Bad to the Blade model, which is also featured in the Hot Wheels Unleashed game, is depicted.
This is in reference to some of the paid downloadable content packs and bundles available, this one specifically being the Premium Add-On Bundle which features access to both scheduled Expansions alongside the Car Pass, VIP and a Welcome Pack.
The service SteamDB – which logs every change on the Steam store servers – corroborates this information, including the new Premium Add-On Bundle image with the Hot Wheels expansion included.
Forza Horizon 5 was the first Forza game to simultaneously launch on Steam alongside Xbox consoles and the Xbox PC app.
A ‘Microsoft & Bethesda’ showcase is scheduled to reveal new Xbox titles this coming Sunday, 12th June, at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET / 6 pm BST / 7 pm CEST – now it seems as if there is a possibility of the Hot Wheels Expansion being revealed there or at a Summer Game Fest-related showcase over the coming days.
