Welcome to 2022, congratulations on making it through last year. For the Gran Turismo series, these next few months are pivotal, as we wind down articles about GT Sport’s online Daily Races menu, and start to ramp up what Gran Turismo 7 has in store for us.
With this in mind, old recopies are being reused – but after over three years, it’s hard to blame Polyphony Digital for such tactics.
Once again, we find ourselves at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, driving an Austrian car. All we need is a virtual incarnation of Helmut Marko as some kind of driving coach and we would have the full red and white set.
Here’s what’s in store for Gran Turismo Sport players online this week.
The first event, Race A, is at the short version of Austria’s most renowned racing venue, with the X-BOW R providing a tail-happy race for everyone involved – all in identical machinery.
A fast lap in qualifying will be key, as without Turn 4, there is a distinct lack of clear overtaking opportunities.
Next up, another short variant of a well-known circuit, as the East section of Autodrome Lago Maggiore is in use for any Gr.4 car you may have in your garage.
This slightly shorter layout is ideal for this class of car, with the all-wheel-drive vehicles seemingly benefiting from the Balance of Performance here. Keep in the Austrian spirit with a community-created Red Bull livery.
This week’s longer race is at a venue you’ve probably completed more laps around than chocolates eaten over the festive period. The now staple diet of Gr.3 cars and Dragon Trail – Seaside is like a favourite armchair. It just feels right.
Full details of each race are below, and the playlist will next reset on Monday 10th January 2022. If you’re interested in Gran Turismo games, we recently went through the weirdest cars in the franchise’s history.
