Initial F1 2021 driver ratings revealed

Much like a non-racing sports title, such as FIFA or Madden, the drivers within the F1 video games are given an overall rating indicating their performance.

Up until now, these have been a closely guarded secret for F1 2021 – but all that changes right now.

Below, you can see the entire F1 grid in overall rating order, starting with the (join) highest, and ending with the (sadly) lowest.

Ranking who is best between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton has been avoided, dodging the bullet by given them an equal overall score of 95. It’s perhaps no surprise that Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly are also highly rated after their stellar seasons so far.

But with Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Riccardo putting in inconsistent performances so far this season, is it just us that feels uneasy about scoring them higher than Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc?

Poor Nikita Mazepin rounds out the field with an overall rating of 67/100, a score calculated across the four parameters of experience, racecraft, awareness and pace. In this regard, Lewis Hamilton and his seven world championship titles command the biggest expense.

In each image, you can also see their cost to hire within the main My Team mode – but don’t forget, you can also recruit inexpensive Formula 2 drivers or, if you own the Deluxe Edition, one of seven iconic personalities.

The key thing to bear in mind here is that these are based upon their current real-world performance and will be constantly updated throughout the year. So, these are just how they stand for the time being, with changes also tying in for the new Real Season Start feature too, which factors in championship points, too.
