Developer Playground Games had stated the game would arrive in 2026 just a month earlier
Despite Playground Games claiming Forza Horizon 6 was definitely still coming to the PlayStation 5 this year, the developer announced today that the port will instead be officially released on Sony’s console on 26 January 2027.
“If you’re planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your Wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability,” read an official statement last month.
However, a new PS5 trailer dropped today, confirming the release date and a five-day early access period for players who pre-order the game’s Premium Edition, which will also feature FH6’s first major expansion.
The expansion’s subject is unknown at this stage, but it’s assumed it may be released on Xbox and PC concurrently, though this has yet to be confirmed.
At the same time, unconfirmed leaks suggested the PS5 port would miss its intended 2026 release window, after earlier doubts about whether the project would be canned entirely, following new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s declaration that ‘in order to be a platform, you must have exclusive content and services’.
Thankfully, this isn’t the case, although the way the game’s new PS5 release date has been communicated could have been better.
