Racing game fans learning about the Forza franchise might be confused as to why there are two completely different types of titles under one roof.
While both Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport share many things, both games are fairly different in terms of the content that you’ll be partaking in.
What is Forza Horizon?
When you leap into the world of a Horizon game, which is developed by the Playground Games studio, this type of Forza is an open-world festival style of game, full of exploring and collecting. Racing is a part of it, but at times it comes secondary to the other fun features.
What is Forza Motorsport?
As for the Motorsport side, which is developed by Turn 10 Studios, it’s all about racing and tuning, and going as fast as you can on a closed circuit course. This is the game that’s more akin to games such as Gran Turismo on PlayStation.
The most recent Horizon game, Forza Horizon 5, released back in 2021 and takes place in a fictionalized Mexico landscape. Forza Motorsport is the newest Forza game altogether, expected to release at some point in 2023, and will span many real and fictional venues across the entire world.
Both games come with tons of officially licensed content, but the big difference is the type of racing experience you get between the two games. It all comes down to what you’re looking for in a game as far as preference is concerned.
