In celebration of RaceRoom Racing Experience’s recent free week and last weekend’s Nürburgring 24 Hours, John decides to have a crack at breaking the Nürburgring Nordschleife’s electric car lap record, using RaceRoom’s Volkswagen ID.R.

The current electric car lap record is held by Romain Dumas, who in 2019 set a shockingly quick 6min 05.336secs lap time using the real world ID.R. Although this is some way short of the 5min 19.45secs petrol-powered record set by Timo Bernhard in a Porsche 919 Evo in 2018, John still has plenty of performance to tame.

With 671bhp, a Drag Reduction System (DRS) and four-wheel drive, the ID.R is a massively capable racing machine that holds the outright Pikes Peak hillclimb record – surpassing the world’s fastest gas guzzlers in the process.

Can John meister the Nordschleife and claim the record? Join us as we find out!
