Cartridge collectors rejoice: retro racer Victory Heat Rally is getting a physical Nintendo Switch release via Limited Run Games.
Pre-orders for Victory Heat Rally’s much-requested physical release are live on Limited Run’s website until 5th January 2025, with two versions available.
The standard edition will set you back $39.99, or you can bundle the game with a soundtrack CD featuring music from RoBKTA and GWIZ for $54.99, with orders expected to ship between 1st and 31st June 2025.
If you can’t wait until then, the digital version launches on the Nintendo eShop next week on 12th December.
Since Limited Run is based in the US, the combined international shipping and VAT costs add an extra $14.83 to the standard edition and $18.46 to the soundtrack bundle when ordering from the UK. That brings the total costs to $54.82 and $73.45, respectively.
Publisher Playtonic Games has confirmed to Traxion there are currently no plans to release Victory Heat Rally’s physical edition outside the US. However, the Switch is region-free, so the cartridge will work on European consoles.
Victory Heat Rally is the first driving game to get the Limited Run treatment since #DRIVE got a physical Nintendo Switch release last year. Before that, Limited Run Games also released physical versions of the indie racers Absolute Drift and Drive!Drive!Drive! but they are no longer in print.
Developed by indie studio Skydevilpalm, Victory Heat Rally is a pixel-art racer inspired by old-school Super Scaler games like Sega’s Power Drift. Players powerslide around vibrant courses at absurd speeds using a dedicated drift button, which charges a boost meter.
The cartoonish cars can be customised with paint jobs, wheels and tyres. Along with a single-player championship, Arcade Grand Prix and time trial mode, Victory Heat Rally supports split-screen multiplayer for up to four players.
Victory Heat Rally is also out on PC, but PlayStation and Xbox releases are yet to be confirmed.
