Turtle Beach, the gaming accessory company primarily known for its range of headsets, is branching out into the world of controllers too.
The Recon Controller, unveiled as part of E3 2021, will be its first venture into this field and will be for Xbox and PC use.
Using the tradition Xbox gamepad insignia, the Recon Controller offers unique audio option for gamers, which makes sense based upon the company’s background. It supports any audio device through a 3.5mm jack and has a range of custom-tuned EQ pre-sets uses Turtle Beach’s ‘Superhuman Hearing’ that helps you hear enemy players before they hear you.
The audio features are controlled by a dedicated set of buttons set atop the device, including dedicated buttons for both game volume and chat volume adjustments and an indicator for when your mic is in use.
The rest of the button layout is very similar to a standard Xbox controller, but there is a pair of additional quick-action buttons around the rear – you can map their function – and the ability to tune the thumbstick sensitivity, branded as ‘Pro-Aim’.
Rounding out the package are the grips, which have a unique rubber material placed upon them to help reduce sweaty palms. This can only be a good thing.
