Over two months after its initial early access launch, a new Tokyo Xtreme Racer update has rolled out, introducing new features and improvements.
Headlining Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s latest update is the addition of a photo mode. Added by “popular demand,” the photo mode lets you photograph your car in the garage selection screen, parking area or in-game, whether you’re cruising the Shuto Expressway or racing a rival in a highway SP Battle.
Additionally, the update adds new customisation options. The livery editor now lets you apply logo stickers to windows or decorate your car with vinyl designs from defeated rivals. If you want to make your car look outlandish, tyres can also be stretched to the wheel rim width, but this doesn’t affect performance.

There’s also a minor graphical update, where scraping a wall or hitting other vehicles produces spark effects.
Currently out on Steam Early Access, a release date for the final version of Tokyo Xtreme Racer is yet to be confirmed. In January, developer Genki said it expects Tokyo Xtreme Racer to stay in early access for around four months, implying we can expect the full game to arrive in May at the earliest.
As for a console release, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are “to be determined”, according to Genki.
