Tokyo Xtreme Racer has been tremendously successful, with the Early Access launch peaking at over 15,000 players. Not bad for a series that’s been dormant for nearly 20 years.

This week will see a small but welcome update for Genki’s popular arcade racer, with Steam Cloud support rolling out on 6th February at 8am BST / 9am CET / 12am PT / 3am ET / 5pm (JST).

This will enable players to share saves across multiple PCs by uploading them to Steam Cloud. PC save data can also be transferred to Steam Deck, which Tokyo Xtreme Racer is surprisingly well optimised for.

Once Steam Cloud is activated, only one save data can be saved per account. As a result, the saves will be overwritten by the save data of the PC that was started first. If you’re planning to use separate save data on multiple PCs, you’ll need to disable cloud sync.

Out now in Early Access on Steam for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99, Tokyo Xtreme Racer sees you race rivals in head-to-head battles on the Shokutu Expressway. The initial Early Access release includes nearly 50 tunable cars from Japanese brands such as Mazda, Nissan and Toyota among others, with more cars, rivals and storylines due to be added in updates.

The final release is expected to be released in around four months, but console versions have yet to be confirmed.
