As predicted, the Toyota GR Yaris has been confirmed for the full release of Tokyo Xtreme Racer.
The pugnacious hot hatch will arrive in its original, pre-facelift specification, which will please Traxion Senior Editor Ross McGregor no end. He’s probably doing a handbrake turn in celebration right now.
This is the Japanese-spec ‘Gen 1’ RZ edition, so there is a manual gearbox, four-wheel drive and a turbocharged 1.6-litre three-cylinder engine (code-named GXPA16).
It will fit in alongside a long list of Toyota models such as Supras, Corollas and 86s. Other recently confirmed cars include the current-generation Nissan Fairlady Z and the Lexus RC F.
Legendary Nissan
As is customary for a new car confirmation video for the nighttime street racing game, there’s a teaser preceding the next unveiling.

This time, we think it’s the first-generation of Nissan Skyline GT-R – the venerated ‘PGC10’ generation, colloquially known as the Hakosuka.
There are kernels of brilliance here that were the foundations for future legends – a straight-six engine, a manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. It will join R32, R33 and R34 generations.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer is set to revive a long-running gaming franchise when it exits early access on PC in September. Additional rivals, car customisation options and even some cars from brands outside of Japan are expected at release.
