After what may have been a premature and unintended leak on the iRacing forums yesterday, iRacing confirmed today on social media that they have modeled and created the Renault Clio cup cars already on their platform, and from the teasers, it looks close to being ready, maybe even for 2023 Season 2.
The Clio is a subcompact car (or if you’re European, a supermini or B-Segment) produced by the French manufacturer Renault. While it’s not a popular racing vehicle over here in the States, you may find many regional Clio Cup Series all across the various countries in Europe.
The racing in these Clio Cup cars can be considered entry-level, which means when iRacing does drop these cars, there’s a small chance it could be included content… but it could also be utilized in Road-D class license level racing which could allow them to charge the usual $11.95 that they do.
Still, nothing is for sure confirmed for Season 2, but it does look like we’ll be getting at least the Formula 1600 and the Circuito de Jerez as new pieces in a few weeks. Maybe with the tease, we could be seeing these Clio cars as well.
Week 13 is less than two weeks away and while iRacing usually keeps that news and those dates close to the vest, we can kind of assume from their previous patterns what to expect. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
