In a move that should provide players with a more authentic experience, the next NASCAR game will use the acclaimed vehicle physics from PC-sim, rFactor 2.
The news comes in the wake of Motorsport Games – the current publisher of the NASCAR Heat games – announcing that it has completed its takeover of Dutch developer and rFactor 2 creator Studio 397.
We interviewed Motorsport Games Director of Design Paul Coleman and Studio 397 Managing Director Marcel Offermans back in March of this year when the intention of the takeover was announced. In that interview, it alluded to that rFactor 2 technology will be used in future NASCAR games, but now this has been rubber-stamped.
“We originally chose to work with Studio 397 on our new NASCAR game franchise to bring top-class elements to the titles, as rFactor 2 has the best vehicle physics, AI and tyre model available today. Therefore, when the opportunity arose to bring them into the Motorsport Games family, it made perfect sense to all parties,” explains Stephen Hood, President of Motorsport Games.
Work will continue on rFactor 2, it just seems like Studio 397 is working with Motorsport Games on transplanting its core strengths into other titles. Remember, Motorsport Games will also be creating BTCC and 24 Hours of Le Mans titles in the future.
