If there’s one thing that Ubioft excels at, it’s ongoing game support. Titles such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege have been on the market for over five years and are still receiving significant upgrades. Even when you think a game is down and out, such as Steep, it releases a new expansion.
The same is true of The Crew 2 – an open world racing game that has a unique MMO-like twist to its progression. A seemingly endless barrage of vehicle upgrades, XP and levels are the video game equivalent of an endless bag of Revels.
Towards the end of 2020, developer Ivory Tower announced a new suite of add-on content for the game, originally released in 2018, to keep the game relevant throughout 2021. Dubbed MOTORPASS, it promised a new (optional) multi-tiered reward system that implemented Daily and Seasonal Challenges. Upon completion, players are rewarded with in-game vanity items.
If this all sounds like a combination of F1 2020’s Podium Pass and the seasons in Fall Guys or Rocket League, you would be correct.
Within Season One of MOTORPASS was an all-new scenario called The Chase, released in November 2020. Now, The Hunt, is Season One, Episode Two. Each season lasts two months and includes two episodes.
Following the theme set by The Chase, The Hunt sees various driving scenarios performed by you to create a fictional episode of a TV show for production company Motorflix. This time around, you will be taking down outlaws in frantic car chases across the vast off-road terrain in the game, using a combination of:
- RAM 1500 Rebel TRX Concept, 2017 (Regular and Enforcer versions)
- Mitsubishi 3000-GT VR4, 1994 (Regular and Enforcer versions)
- Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS, 1971 (Enforcer)
- Creators KS Masked Leader, 2020 (fictional car)
- Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, 2010 (Enforcer)
- Cadillac Escalade, 2012 (Enforcer)
- Hummer HX Concept (Enforcer – unlocked through achieving Platinum in The Hunt LIVE Summit between 20th-27th January 2021)
The vehicles and vanity items will be used across eight themed events, a new game mode entitled ‘The Chase – off-road’ and a fresh set of weekly LIVE Summits – all of which will be released within the game progressively over the course of two months.
One vehicle, the Creators KS Masked Leader and the challenges are yours for free, although if you upgrade to the Premium MOTORPASS, you will receive all the other vehicles and access to additional visual-upgrade items across 50 tiers of content. Premium costs 80,000 Crew Credits and currently a pack of 100,000 costs £7.99/$9.99.
