Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s Year 2 Roadmap altered as Season 6 delayed

Season 6 of the open-world driving game will introduce community-voted detective-style missions, but a little later than initially planned.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s Year 2 Roadmap altered as Season 6 delayed

KT Racing, the developers of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, have committed to at least another year of significant game updates, and earlier this week, released a notable Season 5 patch.

It wasn’t without its issues, however, for those running HDR or certain PC graphics cards. With the release of this update came news that the next major addition, Season 6, will be delayed.

In July of this year, a Year 2 roadmap was published, with several significant changes detailed. Season 6 was slated for a January 2026 release, with Season 7 set for April.

However, during the Season 5 Solar Club update, posted to the game’s Steam page, it was confirmed that the sixth season will now launch in March 2026.

“Season 5 will also have a 5 month length, with Season 6 releasing March 2026. Before Season 6 releases, we will have a larger communication on the next Season release dates. The content of each Season will however remain unchanged,” reads the statement.

This throws into question the rest of the published roadmap too, with Season 7 unlikely to launch just one month after 6.

The content to be included in the next update includes community-voted ‘detective’ missions, as the game continues to add new mission types and single-player variety. Italian supercar manufacturer Pagani will also return to the franchise.

Further polish expected

The move could be quite savvy. While the Solar Crown community appreciates the continued support, releasing updates like Season 5 with glaring issues softens the otherwise positive impact.

Publisher Nacon is seemingly aware of this, with Community Manager Alex VII posting the following sentence during a bug-adressing statement:

“We will continue to work on our polish practices through the next Seasons; one of the reasons we need more months for Season 5.”

With more development time, to aim could be a smoother roll-out of Season 6. Consequently, Season 5 was also scheduled to receive not one, but two updates throughout its lifespan, and may receive a third to address the aforementioned bugs

Update 1 is slated to add three customised vehicles and an in-game store, while Update 2 should add a more stable framerate and game performance.
