Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown players set to be compensated for network errors

The always-online racing game is encountering some hiccups at launch, with players set to receive in-game items in return.

For Gold Edition players of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, one of the perks included in the $89.99 version was seven days of early access.

However, the game was having none of it. Persistent log-in issues, access queues and unstable race servers.

Now, in Traxion’s testing, two days later, we are not experiencing an issue logging in – a relief considering the always-online nature of the experience.

In fact, publisher Nacon, following the implementation of some remedies, claims that successful log-ins have risen from a 45% chance on Gold-launch day to 96%.

It claims that its next focus is on the race serves. Once successful in an event, completing the main career is straightforward, but seemingly there are still frailties when inviting friends to events.

Lobby connection errors do still appear frequently, even if you’re playing solo, as the always-online game fires up a lobby at the start of each event.

The Gold Edition in question includes additional cars, but with one of the perks of being able to play the game early severely hindered, developers KT Racing will later provide in-game bonuses as a form of compensation.

“To express our gratitude for your patience and to apologize for the inconvenience, we will be offering in-game compensation to all affected players once these issues are fully resolved,” read the statement.

“More details regarding the compensation will be communicated at a later date.”

The release of the Standard Edition, (plus two flavours of Silver Edition slightly earlier), is slated for next week, 12th September. Hotfixes and patches are expected, plus the MMO driving game is set to receive support over the coming years, including an Ibiza location in December.

Ahead of then, the creation team has issued the following advice if certain bugs are encountered:

  • Error Messages After a Race: If you see an error message at the end of a race asking if you want to return to the lobby or free roam, please wait and do not press “Yes” immediately. The game periodically makes requests to the servers, and it typically resolves itself within a few minutes.
  • Launching a Race: Sometimes, it may be necessary to persist when trying to start a race. Keep trying if you encounter difficulties.
  • Onboarding Issues (Aberdeen first selection races): If you have completed the second onboarding race but do not see the heliport on your map, please replay the first onboarding race. If you do not see the second onboarding race after finishing the first, try replaying the first race. If it remains blocked, please request a save reset.
