Sara Dove has taken a tenacious victory at a virtual iRacing Okayama venue, taking her first round win of the Screen to Speed Summer Cup season.
Heading into the round, it was Saoirse Fitzpatrick who was quickest in the time attack that set the entry list, with Olivia Hayward in second and Dove third.
Once the event started, the heat race was won by Dove, and a feature race by Fitzpatrick.
For the main 20-minute race, however, the grid was set in time attack order, so Fitzpatrick led Haywood, Dove and Howe. On the opening corner, Howe ran wide and dropped to fifth behind Jackie P Matthews, but reclaimed fourth through Attwood Curve.
The top three held position, but Dove was charging, nipping by Hayward at the hairpin with a quarter of the race complete. Hayward would then spin at Attwood, dropping to sixth. She would climb her way back past Bru D Silva and Matthews, however, to reclaim fourth by the halfway stage.
Fitzpatrick, winner of the in-person Las Vegas event earlier this year, was looking comfortable with a 1.5s lead, but like many others, slowed through Attwood. This handed the lead to Howe, who had Dove less than half a second behind.
The latter went for a move just three corners later, drawing alongside through Piper Corner and completing the move at Redman. She was never headed across the next eight minutes to win, with Howe in second and Fitzpatrick recovering to third.
It means that How tops the championship standings ahead of round winner Dove and inaugural Screen to Speed champion Fitzpatrick.
