Revised ETK car headlines BeamNG.drive’s April update

The 0.28 patch for BeamNG.drive not only updates the ETK car models but adds 19 new missions, a refreshed Automation test track and the ability to open vehicle doors.

The first update of 2023, following the blockbuster 0.27 update in December last year which included the spectacular Johnson Valley, Aprils addition is on the smaller side for BeamNG, but still very worthy.

ETK, 800-Series and K-Series facelift

The ETK car range has received a series of upgrades, including improved meshes and materials. But, come on, this is a BeamNG update, it’s far more than that.

There are new sedan and widebody versions, a fresh V8 engine option (N/A or twin turbo) and visual customisations.

We’d expect nothing less from the German-based company.

Automation Test Track changes

The separate game, Automation, where you create your own car from scratch includes a test track where you can see the AI drive your design.

That same track is within BeamNG.drive, with the option of importing Automation vehicles into the title where you can actually drive them.

This location has received a spruce up in 0.28, with more vibrant vegetation, enhanced building details and sharper asset materials.

19 new missions

Here at Traxion.GG we love a BeamNG mission, so we’re overjoyed that 19 new ones are now here.

The refreshed Automation Test Track is key, as six of these missions are at this venue, plus another six new additions making use of the barren wastelands of Johnson Valley. We’ll test these out soon, alongside the new ETKs and report back later this week.

The new missions are:

  • Automation Test Track: Mixed Rally Stage, Factory Fetcher, BeamNG Sports Race, Forest Fumble, Trail Glacier, Hill Top Test Course
  • East Coast USA: Log Launch, Fearless, Tackle Time, Classic Escape
  • Hirochi Raceway: Derby Race
  • Johnson Valley: Crankshaft Pass, Pit Robber, Shortcourse A, B, & C, Highway Drag Strip
  • Italy: Pasta Master, No Way Out

User interface changes and a long list of small tweaks

The UI has also seen some changes, such as the player icon in the overview map now being an arrow that shows vehicle direction and new features within the Performance Graph.

The purpose of this article is to deliver an overview of the main changes that come to BeamNG.drive via the 0.28 update.

However, as with every update, there’s a full changelog longer than the Amazon River. We recommend that you visit the BeamNG website for the full details of this patch, which weighs in at 1.6 GB.
