It’s funny, in the 2020s, harking back to the 1990s seems to be all the rage. In racing games, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to retro-infused driving games, and now there’s another.
Four-Player Grand Prix (4PGP) is aimed squarely at the Virtua Racing nostalgia feels. And not just because it reminds me of that Sega title. Its publisher and developer, 3goo, loves to reference it.
Afterall, Tomoyuki Kawamura, who worked on that 1992 game’s soundtrack, has created the tunes here too.
Releasing on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 (with a native version for the latest hybrid console), 4PGP featured a heady rose-tinted mix of (19) fictional Formula 1-style cars and (14) tracks, brightly coloured visuals and four-player split-screen multiplayer.
Single-player modes, with four difficulty levels, consist of championship, single race and time attack.
For the Switch 2 version, GameShare locally and online (through GameChat) is supported. This edition can be run in 4K when played through a TV, and 1080p in handheld, with support of up to 120 frames per second (dropping to 90fps for three-to-four players).

On the original switch, it is claimed to run at 60fps at all times, and up to 1080p when docked.
The game is available today, 5th February 2026, for Nintendo’s consoles, priced at $19.99/€19.99 for the older device, $24.99/€24.99 for Switch 2 or $4.99/€4.99 for a Switch 1 to Switch 2 upgrade pass.
A PC version via Steam has also been confirmed, but there is no current release date.
