Following its unveiling in April, 3DClouds has announced that Formula Legends will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on 18th September, priced at £19.99 / $19.99 / €19.99. A physical release has yet to be confirmed.
The release date announcement follows the launch of a playable alpha demo for the retro-style F1 racer on Steam last week, which attracted 50,000 players in just one week.
Alongside the release date announcement, a new and improved demo has launched on PC, featuring two game modes (Custom Race and Time Attack) and two tracks (Belgium and Hungary with classic and modern variants). PlayStation and Xbox demos will launch tomorrow (6th August), with a Nintendo Switch set to follow on 14th August.

In addition, the demo allows you to switch between the mid-’70s, early ‘90s and mid-’20s, with each era having specific teams and drivers.
Based on fan feedback, the new demo boasts several improvements, including new weather conditions and new camera options behind the rear wing and inside the cockpit camera. Previously, the game was only playable in overhead viewpoints.
On top of that, vehicle handling and AI have improved since the last demo. According to 3DClouds, Formula Legends now has “sharper braking performance” and “more responsive handling with less input delay.”

“Formula Legends has evolved massively since we announced the game earlier in the year and this new demo is another opportunity for us to learn and evolve the experience as we accelerate to launch,” said Francesco Bruschi, CEO of 3DClouds.
“Formula Legends has been a labour of love for the entire team as we’re all massive motorsport fans, and we know that anyone who shares that level of passion will cherish their time with our game.”
In contrast to the 3DCloud’s previous racing titles aimed at younger players like Race With Ryan, Paw Patrol Grand Prix and Fast & Furious: Spy Racers Rise of SH1FT3R, Formula Legends represents the Italian studio’s first motorsport-centric game.
A story mode sees you progress through several eras of single-seater racing from the 1960s to the present. Despite the cutsey art direction, the game incorporates simulation elements, such as tyre-wear, fuel consumption and damage, drawing comparisons with New Star GP.
From our recent hands-on, Formula Legends is shaping up to be a promising retro-inspired racer and a love letter to Formula 1.
