Rennsport to add surprise Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar

Ahead of Rennsport’s next update and first DLC release, the Peugeot 9X8 Hybrid has been teased for the sim racing game.

Released for PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S, plus exiting early access on PC last November, the cross-platform driving title was critiqued for lacklustre single-player, a litany of oversights and a meagre quantity of cars and tracks.

A series of bug-fixing patches were released throughout the rest of 2025, but so far this year, major updates have been absent.

However, this is set to change in “early March”, when the Hyundai Vision 74 car and Kuala Lumpur Street Circuit will be added as part of a free update. Quality-of-life changes are not yet known.

It is not yet confirmed when it will arrive in Rennsport, or if it’s free or DLC. We wouldn’t be surprised if its addition is around the same time as the upcoming updates.

The first DLC pack is Endurance Classics Part 1 and is set to include the Porsche 911 GT1, Mercedes-Benz CLK LM and Group C Porsche 956 alongside the 24h Le Mans de la Sarthe circuit.

The 9X8, currently racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, is teased in a later specification that ditched an initial ‘wingless’ design.

It uses a mid-mounted twin-turbo 2.6-litre V6 engine, driving the rear wheels via a seven-speed sequential gearbox. However, it also has a 270 bhp electric motor that powers the front wheels.

It has yes to win a WEC round, but Mikkel Jensen, Paul di Resta and Jean-Éric Vergne secured a second place at Fuji Speedway last season.
