The DHL Virtual Fastest Lap competition is heading towards its conclusion, with the prize of a spot in the 2023 DHL Time Trial up for grabs. Not only this, but the contest opens up another avenue toward entry into the 2023 F1 Esports Series Pro Exhibition and a potential career in the F1 Esports Pro Series.
The competition has been running from the 21st of June with the final closing date for applicants being the 31st of August, taking place on either F1 2020 or F1 2021. Two circuits form the backbone of the competition – Montreal’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and Zandvoort – with Montreal’s participation ending on the 24th of July.
Zandvoort is in use from the 26th of July until the conclusion of the competition, with the successful applicants also receiving a copy of F1 22 plus €1,000 of Fanatec vouchers. Unusually for a hot lap competition, players must submit a replay video of their best lap, forgoing online hotlapping servers completely.
DHL Virtual Fastest Lap winners will then feature alongside a hand-picked selection of the world’s best esports athletes in the 2023 DHL Time Trial. A competitive showing at this event could lead to a spot on the 2023 F1 Esports Series Pro Exhibition grid and a shot at the F1 Esports Series.
Other qualifiers for F1’s mainline esports championship also arrive from the F1 Esports Challengers Series and the Women’s Wildcard event. The DHL Virtual Fastest Lap competition, therefore, represents a golden opportunity to join the professionals in the F1 Esports Pro Series.
And who knows, it could even lead to an F1 Esports Pro Series contract from one of the top F1-affiliated teams and a career in esports.
Entry can be found on the DHL competition page, with entries open to PC, PlayStation and Xbox users.
