Reiza Studios, Volkswagen Brasil announce Volkswagen TSI Cup by Acelerados demo

Big things are in the cards for Reiza Studios and their popular sim Automobilista 2. A fairly substantial developers update was released over the weekend, and leading off the news was the announcement of a collaboration between Reiza, Volkswagen Brasil and the popular Brazilian TV show Acelerados.

The Volkswagen TSI Cup by Acelerados is a project that will be something slightly different than what Automobilista 2 currently is. For one, per the developers, what we’ll see first is a standalone sim demo that will be built from the Automobilista 2 base program releasing later this month. The VW Polo and VW Virtus, both in 1.0 Turbocharged Stratified Injected (TSI) & 1.4 GT Sport (GTS) specifications, will be included alongside the Autódromo Velo Città.

All of that will eventually find its way into the full Automobilista 2 as free content, but the goal for the combined forces is to seemingly get this Acelerados-based project to eventually become an official esports competition based on the show. Essentially for now, with this Brazilian Top Gear variant TV show format, players will get the chance to put down hot laps at the Velo Città track in Brazil.

Reiza Studios says that they have more information to come on this, and it definitely piques my interest with the word esports getting thrown around. The specified demo will essentially have all of the functionality of AMS2 without the ability to play Championship or Multiplayer modes. Not much more can be deciphered from the text, however, so there are a few questions that still need to be answered.

Will this become its own game separate from AMS2, or is the demo that is coming this month just to allow for a smaller sample to widely test the product? Will the competitions take place on AMS2 with the future Multiplayer Rating System in play? How will an esports competition work on any of the AMS2-based systems? Finally, who exactly will be getting this free demo, everyone or a select number of people?

Also unknown is a future timeline, such as what happens after the demo and when other things will happen. Like the folks at Reiza said, there’s more to come that they won’t spoil just yet. In any case, we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more information as it becomes available. Keep it pinned!
