We’re nearly done wrapping up this year’s virtual E3 convention, and although the racing game genre has been relatively lighter than we’d have hoped for (NO MARIO KART! WHY?), there is still plenty of fun stuff to talk about, especially when new hardware gets dropped.
Razer had their turn on Monday and announced a slew of new products, the main course being the brand-new Razer Blade 14 Gaming Laptop, a 14” beast of a machine touted to be “ultra” in many different facets. In terms of being ultra, and by their own declaration, their latest and greatest 14″ laptop is powerful, thin, fast, responsive, immersive, and has ultra-connectivity, per the keynote.
At the start of the Razer presentation, the stage went from a fully gamma green to a half-red Christmas party. The new Razer Blade 14 is the first to contain an AMD processor, and a good one for the size of the product. An AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX resides in the new portable product, plus it’s also got space for a powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU, all the way up to a 3080.
It’s crazy that with a display that can either be 144Hz or Quad HD 165Hz, plus everything else packed into this laptop, that it’s two-thirds of an inch thick. There are a ton of other features packed into this small product, and thankfully that can all be found over on the Razer webpage where it’s available to order now, starting at £1799.99 / $1799.99 / €1,999.99 MSRP.
Razer also announced a new charger, the four-port Razer USB-C GaN charger for £179.99 / $179.99 / €179.99, along with a new 27” THX-certified Razer Raptor 27” ‘Pixel Perfect’ Monitor starting at £699.99 / $699.99 / €699.99. The monitor can also utilize a separate VESA-compatible mount for a triple monitor setup, that being an extra cost of £99.99 / $99.99 / €99.99, and more news was dropped on… a smart face mask?
This flashy mask is not available just yet, but Project Hazel, Razer’s attempt at a cool, RGB-lit, transparent at the mouth, N95 grade face mask will be coming soon and was shown off at the end of the show. Thinking out loud here, sure does seem like a neat idea at the height of the pandemic, but with things starting to lean back to the side of normalcy, I don’t know if it’s something that will be widely sought after.
All in all, Razer has their hands dipped in a bunch of new and exciting products, and for laptop gamers, the new Razer Blade 14 might be something to look into. Let us know what you think of the new hardware on the shelf in the comments!
