The Daytona 2.4hr race should have been RaceRoom’s crowning glory, as its new ranked multiplayer system went from strength to strength.
Sadly, what was described as a “critical failure in our server system” prevented automated splits and required the use of a backup community server. It resulted in jittery performance and a mismatched grid.
“At this moment, we are still investigating what exactly went wrong. As soon as we have a clear understanding of the root cause, we will share it with you transparently,” it said at the time.
However, on 5th February, it deployed “backend updates aimed at improving Ranked MP stability,” and Traxion understands further work has been carried out since.

Today, 12th February, the free-to-enter racing simulation has confirmed a public Daytona multiplayer test race. This will take place on Saturday, 14th February 14th at 18:00 UTC.
Once again, it will be multi-class with LMDh and GT3 machinery.
“In the past weeks, we pushed several updates aimed at improving Ranked Multiplayer stability,” reads today’s statement.
“Now it is time for a full race test. Register for the Test Event and help us validate performance.”
While the original special event running was not pretty, RaceRoom’s response so far has been quick and transparent.
It has also recently removed Laguna Seca while licensing discussions are ongoing, and has confirmed the return of Spa-Francorchamps at a later date.
