Porsche 2026 ‘evo’-spec 911 GT3 R makes sim racing debut in Rennsport

In Porsche parlance, ‘RS’ stands for ‘Rennsport’. In sim racing parlance, ‘Rennsport’ stands for something that’s not quite finished yet…

The race to complete the modern-day GT4, GT3 and Hypercar classes of real-world racing across all the various sim racing games is hotting up – and Rennsport is the first to showcase the 2026-specification Porsche 911 GT3 R in the virtual world.

The actual car was unveiled to the world today, 8th August 2025, with an updated aerodynamic package and chassis tweaks. Most noticeable are the ‘ventiducts’ on the front wings.

At the rear, a new four-millimetre Gurney flap has been added to the rear wing, and the suspension kinematics have been adjusted to, Porsche says, reduce squatting under acceleration. Upgraded ABS is also part of the package.

Rennsport has published a video of the new car in action, featuring the visual aero upgrades and the silver launch livery, although no release date for the car in-sim or indeed, the sim itself, has been provided.

Currently in early access for PC, thanks to a publishing deal with Nacon, it is set to hit Version 1.0 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime before the end of 2025, featuring cross-platform multiplayer and progression.

The updated GT3 car was unveiled on the same day as a revised 992.2 911 Cup, with VPG offering its steering wheel for home sim use.
