Open-world racer JDM: Japanese Drift Master coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Forza Horizon 6 isn’t the only open-world racer set in Japan coming to consoles.

JDM Japanese Drift Master coming to PS5 and Xbox Series

Following its initial May release on PC this year, JDM: Japanese Drift Master is heading to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Developer Gaming Factory previously told Traxion that work on console ports will start after the PC launch, but release windows are now confirmed.

Announced during IGN LiveFest, JDM: Japanese Drift Master will launch on Xbox Series X|S first on 21st November, with a PS5 release to follow in Q1 2026. Pre-orders will begin on 14th November. Those who pre-order will receive a free bonus car, the fictional Akina Phantom, inspired by Initial D’s Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86.

Priced at €34.99 / $34.99, the console versions will include the PC version’s post-launch updates. The Xbox version will also get “further controller optimisation”, but will not support wheels.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master sees players explore crowded city streets and twisty mountain passes in a diverse open world with over 250 kilometres of roads inspired by Japan’s Honshu island.

Celebrating Japanese car culture, the car list features a variety of fictional and licensed vehicles, including the Mazda RX-7, Nissan Silvia S15 and Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Every car is fully customisable.

While the roster currently comprises only Japanese cars, the Made in USA DLC pack will add Western cars next month. As the name suggests, these will be based on US cars like the Ford Mustang and Dodge Viper, albeit unlicensed.

There’s also a story mode told through manga-inspired cut scenes that centres on a young driver proving their driving talent in a local street racing gang.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master isn’t the only open-world racer set in Japan coming to consoles. Next year, it will face stiff competition from Forza Horizon 6 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 port set to follow “post-launch” according to Microsoft.
