Fanatec has moved to address one of the weaknesses of its ClubSport DD and ClubSport DD+ wheelbases by releasing the DD Shaft Expansion.
The DIY kit, which increases the wheelbase-to-steering wheel distance by 160mm, is available to purchase now and includes all the necessary parts, tools and bolts required to adapt to Fanatec’s wheelbase hardware.
Extending the distance between the wheelbase and steering wheel allows sim racers more sim rig hardware mounting options, allowing wheelbases to be mounted behind monitors to provide a ‘mixed reality’ setup.
The DD Shaft Expansion consists of CNC-machined aluminium and a typically Fanatec black anodised finish, with the financially beleaguered German peripheral manufacturer (see below) assuring customers the unit will be stable enough to cope with the rigours of sim racing.
In terms of compatibility, a QR2 Base-Side (Type-F) mounting point is required on the wheelbase side, while any ClubSport DD / DD+ agreeing steering wheel will work as before. No extra cables are required for the electronics, with the DD Shaft Expansion ensuring all connections and force feedback potential remain reliable.
The Fanatec DD Shaft Expansion is available to purchase now for €99,95, excluding shipping and taxes.
Endor AG’s Extraordinary General Meeting ‘suspended’
In July, former Endor AG (and Fanatec) CEO Thomas Jackermeier pulled enough strings to call for an ‘Extraordinary General Meeting’. Endor AG reported at the time, in its opinion, that such an event “jeopardises the restructuring of the company as part of the ongoing proceedings under the German Corporate Stabilisation and Restructuring Act (StaRUG).”
StaRUG was being used to restructure, but also sell the outfit to American giant Corsair. Ultimately this process was stopped, and the company filed for insolvency.
Even though the meeting has been suspended, Endor AG representatives GFD Finanzkommunikation confirmed to Traxion that there are no plans to resume the StaRUG procedure.
As of 27th August, the Landshut-based organisation has announced the gathering will no longer take place on 3rd September. It claims that the 31st Civil Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Munich has ‘temporarily suspended’ proceedings, branding the meeting as ‘irrelevant’.
