Need for Speed UnboundNeed for Speed Unbound is now playable on Amazon Luna. This means players can stream Criterion’s open-world arcade racer over the cloud with a Luna+ subscription, negating the need to own high-end PC hardware or consoles.

Rather than buying individual games like Google’s discontinued Stadia service, Amazon Luna requires a subscription fee to gain access to a library of over 100 games on mobiles, tablets, laptops, PCs and smart TVs.

Available to Amazon Prime members at no extra cost, the basic Lunar tier provides access to a rotating selection of games, including Trackmania, Rocket Racing, and RiMS Racing.

Why Need for Speed Unbound moved to a live service model

Upgrading to a Luna+ subscription for £8.99 / $9.99 per month grants access to a larger library of games, with a seven-day free trial available. For an extra £14.99 / $17.99 a month, the Ubisoft+ tier adds a selection of games from the French publisher, including The Crew Motorfest.

Need for Speed Unbound joins multiple racing games on Amazon’s cloud gaming service, including Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, MotoGP 24 and WRC Generations, among many others, on Luna+.

Originally released in 2022 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Need for Speed Unbound is the latest entry in the long-running arcade racing franchise, featuring illegal street racing, cop chases and cel-shaded characters mixed with graffiti-style visual effects and realistic environments.

While live-service support for Need for Speed Unbound has ended since the Vol.9 update, with Criterion shifting focus onto the Battlefield series, EA has teased that the series is set to return in “new and interesting ways” at some point.
