There has been no official announcement from Motorsport Games on this, but the first NASCAR video game on the Nintendo Switch looks to be on its way for a November release.
Earlier in the week, an Amazon.com store link was shared around social media with the NASCAR Heat Ultimate Edition+ available to preorder for the Switch with a release date of 19th November.
NASCAR fans are all eagerly awaiting the 28th October release date of NASCAR 21: Ignition, but it looks like the popular handheld gaming system was not completely forgotten. NASCAR 21: Ignition is only set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on PC via Steam at launch with a future path to the new-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, so the Switch version looks to be separate.
The Amazon.com store page also lists some interesting details about the game:
- NASCAR Heat Ultimate Edition+, the official video game of the 2020 season, the world’s most popular stockcar racing series puts you behind the wheel and challenges you to become the NASCAR Cup Series champion.
- Features the 2020 official teams, drivers, cars and schedule from the three NASCAR National Series as well as the Xtreme Dirt Tour, racing on 39 authentic tracks.
- Ultimate Edition+ includes everything in NASCAR Heat 5 Ultimate Edition, plus the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Roster and 2021 primary paint schemes.
- Featured content includes 2020 Throwback and Playoff paint schemes, Tony Stewart as a playable character, plus more!
This sounds like the last edition of Heat but with updates for the 2021 season. NASCAR Heat Mobile does have the updated 2021 roster, so that could be part of the reason why the Switch game will have the current drivers. The current PC, Xbox and PlayStation NASCAR Heat 5 editions don’t have those 2021 rosters.
