Motorsport UK’s Esports division has announced a collaboration with rFactor 2-based simulation software KartSim to launch a new esports competition.
The Motorsport UK Esports KartSim Cup aims to provide prospective karters with a platform to set their fastest lap times at the officially licensed PF International Kart Circuit, available with KartSim’s Esports Pack (currently available for £17.78 on Steam).
Further events are planned, but the season opener will be split into two categories: Cadet and Senior. Cadet karters (aged 8-11 years) will drive the Iame Mini x30 kart, while the Senior class (12+ years) will drive the higher-powered x30 Senior kart, with the aim being to set the fastest possible lap time. Set-ups are fixed.
Qualifying is open from 11 am on the 10th of March and closes at 11 am on the 17th of March. The top 30 qualifiers will be eligible for a final race held at 6 pm on March 20th (all times are UTC). The race will be broadcast live on KartSim’s YouTube channel. The deadline to enter The KartSim Esports Cup is the 12th of March at 4 pm GMT.
Prizes include a KartSim Esports Wheel and Pedal bundle (currently worth £538.20) and a Pro version of its karting software (worth £499), with the competition open to drivers of all abilities.
To enter, participants must have a Motorsport UK Esports membership, costing £27.99 for a 12-month subscription. Signing up also grants players a free 12-month subscription to iRacing, plus the FIA F4 single-seater (offer valid for new iRacing customers only). Other benefits are available too, with the full run-down available on Motorsport UK’s Esports website.

After becoming a member, players can sign up for the Motorsport UK Esports Kartsim Cup for free here.
KartSim versus the competition
KartSim is one of three hardcore karting sims currently available on PC, sitting alongside KartKraft and Kart Racing Pro. In our comprehensive back-to-back test, we found that KartSim’s variety of content – rFactor 2 has several modded karts and circuits, dynamic weather, VR functionality and solid physics – make it a worthy option for budding karters.
“As esports continues to grow in popularity, it’s great to offer a championship for drivers that solely focuses on karting,” stated Motorsport UK’s Head of Esports, Paul Crawford.

“KartSim offer a range of technologies that are second-to-none and we hope this will encourage drivers to sign up for this opportunity,” he continued.
“More than just a race, the Esports Cup marks the beginning of even bigger events as KartSim and Motorsport UK look toward the future,” commented Tony Irfan, Managing Partner at KartSim.
