Thanks to a second developer question and answer session, where some community queries were answered, further details about MotoGP 23’s brand new online multiplayer ranking system have come to light.

While, understandably, we’re yet to see it in action or test it ourselves, two of the game’s developers have described how it will work.

“All the levels, including platinum but not legend, will have three different sub-levels,” said the title’s Executive Producer and Creative Director, Michele Caletti.

“There’s plenty of granularity [within] the different levels and then there’s ‘legend’ which is unique. There’s plenty of room to grind up.

“This system helps us to put players of the same level in the same match,” said Stefano Zanaboni, Lead Game Designer for MotoGP 23.

“We want the players to enjoy this new feature of MotoGP and explore it with fantastic races.”

To date, such a system has not been implemented within the Milestone-developed series. There have been public and private lobbies, but no way of racing against similarly-skilled riders apart from joining an independently organised league.

Of course, as previously revealed, the dynamic weather and flag-to-flag ruleset will also be possible online too – a first for the series. Meaning, some hero will undoubtedly try to ‘Brad Binder’ it on slicks in the rain and win…

MotoGP 23 is set for an 8th June 2023 launch and will also include cross-platform online races between PlayStation and Xbox consoles – although, sadly, PC and Switch miss out.
