Created by the Brazilian Aquiris Game Studio, Horizon Chase 2 is a sequel to the super Horizon Chase (mobile) and Horizon Chase Turbo (PC and console) which merged classic arcade cabinet sensibilities with contemporary game modes.
When it initially launched last year, however, we were a bit disappointed that it was an Apple Arcade subscription exclusive – not even available to purchase separately on iOS.
We loved it though, and included it within our games of the year rundown.
“This is a prime example of the arcade racer, reviving ’80s gaming sensibilities beautifully and offering a joyous, simple experience anyone can enjoy. It’s not quite as memorable, challenging or magical as the original, but if you’ve fallen in love with Horizon Chase as we have, or just want some ultra-fast, easy-to-play racing fun, it’s still the easiest of recommendations. Get on it,” we said in our review.
Now available elsewhere, we’re keen to test how it plays with a gamepad, and via its online multiplayer modes.
Horizon Chase 2 is available as of 14th September for the Nintendo Switch and on PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive for £19.99/$24.99 with both platforms receiving a limited time 20 per cent launch discount. There’s no word yet on PlayStation or Xbox releases.
