Mercedes-Benz licenced D-BOX motion platform set for February launch

Following the RSEAT and D-BOX HF-L4 displayed at the SimRacing Expo in December, Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG have partnered with motion platform creators D-BOX.

A new multipurpose motion platform, for use in sim racing and esports but also for entertainment, will be on sale sometime in February 2023 featuring the three-pointed star brand. It will be available for home consumers but is also designed with car dealership activations in mind.

Limited details are available ahead of launch, but of note, the HF-L4 we tested at the Expo was indeed Mercedes-Benz branded, and we used an upcoming Cube Controls Mercedes-AMG steering wheel at the same time.

On that unit, the D-BOX G5 haptic feedback system was mounted horizontally within the chassis, a first for the company, which means it’s not visible on the rig’s exterior. The information about the new upcoming Mercedes platform describes it as a “low-profile” product.

“Mercedes-Benz consistently delivers the best quality products with their luxury brand. We are very proud of this recognition by such an iconic brand and to bring our D-BOX haptic technology and immersive entertainment to their global ecosystem,” said Sébastien Mailhot, President and Chief Executive Officer of D-BOX.

“D-BOX prides itself in being the first haptic system endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), which is recognized by Mercedes-Benz. This new collaboration combines high-level entertainment standards with state-of-the-art technology for unique experiences.”
