The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team has announced its ESL R1 lineup, including leading talent from several sim racing platforms.
James Baldwin, Bono Huis, Marko Pejic and Graham Carroll will form the four-strong driver entry for the Affalterbach-supported team.
As reported on the 19th January, the current Autosport Esports Driver of the Year, FIA Motorsport Games Gold winner and multiple Assetto Corsa Competizione champion Baldwin signed full-time for the Mercedes-AMG team, following a dalliance for the Le Mans Virtual Series alongside former Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup competitor Carroll.
Meanwhile, Bono Huis is known for his five Formula Sim Racing championships, alongside the 2021 Formula Pro Series title and a Formula E Visa Vegas eRace victory. Pejic, meanwhile, is known for his adaptability across several different sim platforms and recently won a race in the RaceRoom REMUS GT3 championship.
“I’m really excited to race in the brand new ESL R1 Series for Mercedes,” said Baldwin to Traxion.GG.
“I have some great teammates in Bono, Graham & Marko – I think we can compete at the front, which is our aim going into the series.”
The racing gets underway in Poland at the IEM Expo Katowice, using the Rennsport platform, 11th-12th February 2023 and Traxion.GG will be there to report on the action.
