JDM: Japanese Drift Masters’ next update is set to include improvements to the game’s physics and steering wheel functionality.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master’s next update to feature substantial physics and force feedback improvements

We already know that JDM: Japanese Drift Master’s next update will feature comprehensive AI updates, but developer Gaming Factory has also intimated that the game will also receive forced feedback and physics improvements.

The update, which is set to drop on PC this week, will focus on tyre and suspension behaviour to help produce more realistic steering wheel handling. It’s hoped this will combat the slightly out-of-control feeling many steering wheel users have experienced thus far in JDM.

In its latest developer blog, the developer has also outlined how it plans to rework JDM’s in-game force feedback, including a ‘ground-up’ rethink. Force feedback presets will be gradually added to the game throughout the summer, with the first batch of wheel presets coming in the next update (the identity of the wheels is yet to be revealed, however).

The game’s arcade and simcade physics models will also be adjusted. This means it should now be much easier to initiate and maintain drifts in arcade mode, with simcade physics featuring smoother handling.

In other changes, jumps will now feel more ‘impactful’, and cars will feel more weighty in general, with better braking performance also promised, especially at lower speeds.
