JDM: Japanese Drift Master set for further licenced car brands

Nissan, Mazda and Subaru are on board with endorsed vehicles, but more are expected both pre-and-post-release.

When JDM: Japanese Drift Master releases on 26th March for PC, it will feature accurate reincarnations of Nissan, Mazda and Subaru cars.

Officially licenced, each has seemingly (based on the Rise of the Scorpion Prologue) been accurately recreated, both inside and out. They can then be modified extensively, both for performance and visual flair.

In 2023, the game was devoid of licenced vehicles

Early in the development phase, the models were facsimiles. But slowly and surely, developer Gaming Factory was able to convince car manufacturers to jump on board formally. First, it was Mazda and Subaru, both present within the menus of the prologue, and then Nissan – which wasn’t licenced for the demo, but is for the full game.

There will be more, too…

“We have at least one more announcement coming before release, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise,” teases Lead Game Designer, Wojciech Babiński, to Traxion.

That’s not all, as more cars could be included after the initial launch too, as discussed as part of the post-release roadmap.

“We’re currently working on a roadmap for JDM’s post-launch content,” continues Babiński.

“Players can expect additional racing events, new game modes, and, hopefully, even more licensed cars.”

Of note, the creators informed Traxion that the number of cars at launch will exceed 30, but to date, we estimate that just over 10 have been showcased.
