Following the launch of JDM: Japanese Drift Master last month, a new patch update brings some much-needed performance improvements, bug fixes, and convenient cloud saves.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master is visually sublime, but its Unreal Engine 5-powered graphics came at the expense of performance, with many players struggling to run the game smoothly. To improve this, the update enables instance occlusion, which should “reduce the overall GPU strain” and “increase game performance,” according to developer The Gaming Factory.

Additional optimisation has been applied to the open world, buildings and foliage, further improving performance.

Another highlight is the addition of cloud saves, which allow players to continue their progress across multiple devices. Gaming Factory recommends backing up the original save file before installing the update, which can be found at the following directory on Windows PCs: OS_Drive\\Users\\user_name\\AppData\\Local\\JDM\\Saved.

Other improvements include a fix for an issue where exhaust smoke would “blow in an unrealistic direction,” destruction physics to the barriers in the Japan-inspired open world and UI enhancements. Several cars have also been updated, with the digital gauges fixed for the Honda NSX NC1 and Subaru BRZ II.

More updates are planned for JDM: Japanese Drift Master over the next eight months across three phases, as revealed in a recent remap. Set to arrive within the next two months, the first update is expected to introduce a simplified car setup system, new cars and new tuning options.

Later this year, further updates are set to add split-screen multiplayer, a photo mode and a career mode expansion.
