When iRacing purchased Monster Games in 2022, the first game that was released under its stewardship was the official World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing later that same year.
The licenced platform of the real-world dirt oval racing championship, it featured some of the actual driver names, teams, cars, liveries and tracks alongside fictionalised content.
These were placed within an engrossing career mode, that saw you upgrade your vehicles and make your way to the top of the series.
It was originally released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, before a Nintendo Switch port arrived in October 2023.
Also in 2023, a season expansion was launched as optional DLC, and then in 2024, a full sequel was released – World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing ‘24. It too omitted PC, much to the chagrin of some WoO fans.
However, for those looking for a simulation American dirt track experience, that was already available on PC via the iRacing service. The dedicated games feature much more benign vehicle handling, designed primarily for gamepad use.
Still, nearly five months after its release, Dirt Racing ‘24 will be released on PC via Steam on 5th February 2025. Only the Gold Edition, which features the Season Pass of DLC (including Oswego Speedway, Huset’s Speedway, extra paint schemes and appearance packs) is listed presently. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.
The latest entry in the series still uses elements of the Unity game engine, with iRacing assets and know-how ported across. For example, the aforementioned Huset’s Speedway has just been released for the PC simulation, and based on that same information, a version will be released for the Dirt Racing ‘24 game as DLC soon.
Its arrival on an extra platform also poses an interesting question for the upcoming NASCAR 25 game by the same development team – is it yet to be confirmed exactly which devices it will be created for.
