iRacing Season 2 Patch 6 brings NASCAR on road course updates

iRacing Season 2 Patch 6 heavy with NASCAR on road course updates

The next iRacing patch for Season 2 released on Thursday 13th May is very forward with updating all the NASCAR vehicles for the upcoming slew of roadies that is about to bestow the NASCAR schedule.

iRacing Season 2 Patch 6 primarily includes an update to the tire model for all NASCAR stock cars on the service, including the ARCA Impala and all the legacy cars.

What the change is to those tires, well, we don’t know. It could mean less heat in the tires sooner, which means it could hold grip longer at higher speeds, a thing that was rumored to be an issue last year when the stock cars hit NASCAR’s Daytona Road Course.

It could also mean they are just “more realistic” with more precise data, so again, we won’t know exactly what until that virtual rubber is able to hit those virtual road tracks with enough testing time.

Another batch of changes came to the brand-new NASCAR NEXT Gen cars that debuted during the eNASCAR Pro Invitational Series last week, mostly cosmetic in the sense of decal layering and the looks of damage from a distance, but the sounds now generate in the proper place, which is good, considering I haven’t seen one in person fired up yet, now I can know where not to stick my ears when I do get back to the track.

Also, they removed the almighty reverse gear from all the NEXT Gen cars, so that’s a shame for those who were enjoying racing those cars backwards. THIS IS A SIMULATION, AFTER ALL.

A Darlington Raceway pit glitch that would re-check tires in the middle of pit road was also remedied, and on the non-NASCAR side of things, the Dallara IR18 Indycar had some setups updated, possibly due to the start of all the Indianapolis 500 festivities that begin this weekend with the iRacing fixed setup Indy 500.

All the patch notes can be found below. The update is live, so happy racing to you all!
